Non-Buff Rebel Fleet Trooper

8-31-98 Update:

Above you can see the new and improved Non-Buff Rebel Fleet Trooper, which I decided to redo after some flaws in the original (shown below) were pointed out to me. I double-checked the scene from the movie, and I realized that Kenner missed a lot of detail on this figure.

The main change I made was the shirt. I made a sculpey collar to match the one in the movie. I also cut off the pocket from the left leg of a rebel fleet trooper and glued it on the figure's left leg. For a little added detail, I dremelled and sanded down the blaster strap on the leg. If you look closely at the movie, you can see that the rebels' holsters hang free at their sides (see the photo at right). It's important to then paint the pants grey, not tan like on Kenner's RFT (at left). And don't forget to paint the line for the black strap that shows on his white chin guard.

Scroll down for pictures of the figure before I updated it. Further down you'll also find the original recipe, which talks about how I made the rest of the figure.

The POTF2 Rebel Fleet Trooper and Ceremonial Luke were used to make my Non-Buff Rebel Fleet Trooper

I was never happy with Kenner's obscenely buff Rebel Fleet Trooper, so I made one of my own (at right) when I had the spare parts sitting around. The majority of the body is from the Ceremonial Luke at center. The head is Han Solo's, and the arms are from a Luke Jedi. The helmet and vest are obviously from the Rebel Fleet Trooper. For a little added detail, I cut the chinguard off the Rebel fleet Trooper's head, and then put it in a little place I had cut in Han's chin. Everything was then painted appropriately.

To see how to make his gun, check out my Correct Rebel Fleet Trooper Rifles. For other non-buff figures, see my Non-Buff stormtrooper, Greedo, Lando, Boba Fett, and Carbonite Han.
